Enel is a premium provider for the Italy Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai international exhibition. As part of this technical partnership, Enel X provided two smart LED light installations, called Second Sun and Second Moon, which interact with the environment, simulating the daily progression of sunlight and creating beautiful spectacles for visitors. In line with our commitment to sustainability and care for the environment, Enel GI&N equipped the exhibition area with a smart metering system integrated with IoT solutions to monitor consumption and lighting levels. The system is a step forward in the evolution of energy use, which today is increasingly based on responsible choices aimed at sustainable urban development. The energy industry is experiencing a major transformation driven by urbanization, decarbonization, electrification, digitalization and the emergence of new customer needs. Specifically, electrification global electricity demand will increase by 60% by 2040. Second Sun and Second Moon showcase Enel X's creativity, ingenuity and technological prowess in terms of public and architectural lighting. The latest generation LED technologies and management software combined with IoT platforms come together to save energy and money, reduce light pollution and create experiences of beauty for residents and visitors alike.
