A little bit of sunshine in Mayoral’s childrenswear

Deeply committed to environmental sustainability, the Spanish kids’ apparel label tapped Endesa X for a PV solution that slashes its CO₂ emissions

A fashion company focused on childrenswear, Spain’s Mayoral is extremely sensitive to issues that affect kids’ futures. As part of its efforts to reduce its operations’ carbon footprint, the Malaga-based company tapped Endesa X for a solar power solution, one part of the apparel maker’s #ecofriends project that aims to reduce the company’s environmental impact. Endesa X is installing 3,711 photovoltaic modules shared between Mayoral’s headquarters and its newly built logistics warehouse in the Interhorce industrial park, enough to produce around 3,346 MWh per year for self-consumption. This will satisfy around 44.45% of Mayoral's energy needs and reduce its annual CO₂ emissions by some 762 tons, similar to the annual absorption capacity of around 4,562 trees. Given the size of the two PV plants, the installation of a new medium voltage line is planned for the evacuation of the energy produced, which will be consumed 100% and instantaneously by Mayoral, with no surplus.

The client

Mayoral is a Malaga-based fashion company specialized in the design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of children’s apparel. The firm sells its collections in more than 100 countries around the world, through a network of 21 commercial companies, 200 sales agents and more than 10,000 customers. Currently, Mayoral – which also owns adult fashion brands Boston and Hug & Clau – is developing its e-commerce offer in more than 21 countries. The firm is deeply committed to reducing its environmental impact and through its #ecofriends project aims to implement sustainability actions and initiatives that help combat climate change and leave a lighter mark on the planet.

Enel X's challenge

Mayoral, a Spanish multinational kidswear company, is deeply committed to reducing its environmental impact and making a contribution to combating climate change. As part of its sustainability efforts, the Malaga-based firm wanted to power its headquarters and a new logistics center with renewable energy, which would enable it to slash its CO₂ emissions.
Mayoral contacted Endesa X, which offered a solution based on solar power. Endesa is installing 3,711 photovoltaic panels on the fashion firm’s headquarters and new logistics center. Given the size of the two PV plants, the installation of a new medium voltage position is planned for the evacuation of the energy produced, which will be consumed 100% and instantaneously by Mayoral, with no surplus.
By adopting Endesa X’s solution, Mayoral will be able to fulfill part of its #ecofriends mission to reduce its impact on the environment and help reduce climate altering emissions. Indeed, the Endesa X PV plants will enable the company to generate some 3,346 MWh per year of energy, equivalent to around 45% of Mayoral’s energy needs, while allowing the kids’ fashion maker to cut its CO₂ emissions by about 762 tons per year, the annual equivalent of that absorbed by some 4,562 trees.
