Formula E: Enel X energises the city that never sleeps

Formula E is switching on its motors in New York, the city that never sleeps

The electric single seater Grand Prix will transform Brooklyn into a racing circuit for the second year running. The final races in the 2018 ABB FIA Formula E Championship will take place on 14 and 15 July at Red Hook, on a circuit whose reflection can be seen in the waters of the Hudson River, under the watchful gaze of The Statue of Liberty. Enel X, the Official Smart Charging Partner for the zero-impact competition in New York City, will use this sporting event as an opportunity to make itself known to the U.S. market. New York has already been illuminated by the purple logo of Enel X which has, to date, developed 14 energy storage projects in the metropolis, exporting innovative solutions that are indissolubly tied to environmental sustainability.

Enel X’s American adventure

Electric Mobility

Sustainable Mobility

Leading the global evolution in the way you move

The two-day Formula E event in the city offers a unique opportunity for Enel X in the United States. Dedicated areas and live demonstrations of Enel X charging infrastructures will see employees, partners and guests involved in presentations of e-Mobility and the range of smart services available for the corporate world. Enel X charging infrastructures will be in the front row, as always, with the Enel X JuiceBox, by Enel’s subsidiary eMotorWerks, which can charge a vehicle in 30 minutes (also at home), and the debut of the brand new Enel X Juice Station Fast. Also in Brooklyn, Enel X operates the Marcus Garvey microgrid project at Marcus Garvey Village, a 625-unit residential apartment complex. Marcus Garvey makes use of the solar plus storage micro grid to add resiliency to the complex and take part in the local demand response programme. It’s a tangible example of energy efficiency, resilience and self-consumption that fits perfectly into the heart of a city in constant transformation.

The energy charge called Juice

As of 2019, Enel X charging stations will be the official infrastructures for the Formula E Championship, with Enel X technology literally “unleashing” energy to charge the Formula E single- seater battery in only 45 minutes. In this way the Enel X spark will light up New York, adding its purple livery to the colours of the city of a thousand lights.

The innovative solutions brand was launched in the United States with the acquisitions of EnerNOC, Demand Energy Networks and eMotorWerks, respectively leaders in the fields of demand response, intelligent energy storage software and e-mobility. During the wait to discover the next winner of the Formula E Championship, Enel X continues to race ahead. Ever and increasingly Faster.
